trends for 2010 for men

Smart

Smart suits are slimmer fitting- broader shoulders but with a definite fitted waist, trousers follow the same theme of being slimmer in the legs. Lapels and ties follow the same ‘slimmer’ theme. Look for slim, elongated lapels to give the illusion of length particularly if you are shorter in height or shorter in the waist. In terms of material fine wool will always be a winner in terms of comfort and ‘last’, a wool and polyester blend being less expensive and wool polyester and viscose likely to be a less expensive alternative still. Try and work out ‘wears’ per item – buying the best quality you can afford usually pays. Shiny looking suits or those with contrasting trim piping on the lapels may be truly cutting edge. Perhaps these are where a budget version might be sensible – who knows when they might become dated.

Casual

Jackets: lots of denim & lots of leather. Think what shape suits your body shape (a style and image consultation will tell you this and lots more). Blouson jackets are again popular but can look incorrect on so many people.

Tops: button down shirts, checks in all sizes and colours – so ensure you choose to suit your scale and colouring; graphic T shirts for a real relaxed look; easy to wear polo shirts in all colours so try one in your best colour under a jacket. Sweaters –look for your best neckline (is it crew or V or can you do both?) If you go for a pattern there are lots of horizontal strips about – again is this a look you can pull off or would a more vertical look be better for your stature?

Accessories: aviator sunglasses could complete the look. If you need a shoulder bag then there’s a wide choice from a denim messenger bag to a sharper leather briefcase type with a strap to double as a shoulder bag.

The trick is to virtual shop and look for styles to add to your wardrobe before you hit the shops.
