Let me tell you how an image consultant changed my life. Many years ago I had a serious car accident – as I saw it happening I thought that was it! Whilst recovering I saw a newspaper article about an image consultant and as I read it I decided that as soon as I was mobile I would see her. I visited her studio where she showed me which colours and styles would suit my body. I was transformed and to this day believe she speeded up my recovery. She actually started me on an amazing journey – I gained so much confidence when I felt that I looked good. I went on to have a very successful career, working at a national level in the private and public sector. Throughout this time I have dedicated my life to helping others be successful, both academically and in themselves. So now I have come full circle and am working as an Image Consultant myself and I just love what I do, and from the comments from my clients they love it too.
So, what added value do I bring to my work for you?
training expertise: For many years I have taught and trained pupils and adults. I’ve developed a range of techniques which I draw on to ensure that you find the experience fun, memorable and more importantly effective. I have worked for major awarding bodies and the Government so I have high expectations and expertise in meeting a variety of needs. I have been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts for my expertise education in disseminating ‘good practice’. Also you will benefit from my unique aftercare service in which I provide you with a summary of our discussions.
coaching expertise: Throughout my career I have worked to bring the best out in people. I know that talking at people does not work and that listening is the pre-requisite to good communication. I will draw heavily on my qualified practical experience in my work with you to ensure that you get a truly personalised service.
research expertise: I have always wanted to be the best I can and this has led me into research. I have a Master’s Degree in the area of self-assessment and self-esteem and draw on this when helping clients progress up the career ladder, adjust to having a career break with children or enjoy retirement. I then concentrated on the area of middle management and leadership. This enables me to devise bespoke sessions. Currently I am looking into body image and confidence in young people.
fitting expertise: I am an experienced seamstress. You will have the benefit of my knowledge and practical experience of working with a range of fabrics, and shapes. I won’t tell you what you can’t wear but rather we’ll look at the ‘art of the possible’. My initial scientific training has left me with an eye for detail. On one couture course I was told my rib cage was bigger than my bust- I promise this won’t happen to you! So, I am also a master of the art of illusion! I am more likely to hear you saying ‘wow that trick with the sleeves has lengthened my legs- magic.’
high standards and expectations: When I selected my own image consultant many years ago I was looking for a well qualified, experienced consultant who understood my needs. We all want the best for ourselves. After my initial core training I have been determined to learn from the best people in the world. Hence I am also a member of the International Federation of Image Consultants, where I now serve as a Director. By keeping at the forefront of what is going on in the Image World I hope to deliver the best service possible to my many clients- whether individual or organisations.
